Chandertaal - Baralacha La Trek
An Alpine treat

One of the most delightful treks. In the region. This Trek Affords views of lush green valleys towering snow clad mountains and barren hills with surrealistic forms and shapes Leaving the Manali valley, the trek proceeds through evergreen cool forests of walnut, oak, and the accessional alder. The views of the entire Kullu valley are excellent and are glimpsed all along the trail. Trek through breathtaking landscape, through the meadow, where shepherds herd their buffalo and graze their sheep during summer and Monsoon Season. Once atop the Hampta pass (4268 Mts.), other spectacular panoramas of peaks appear. Trek to the other side of the Pass, in the Chandra Valley, along the Chandra River offers incredible view. This whole region is a typical Himalayan Alpine Zone as high summits surrounds the valley. We would use transportation from Chhatru - Batal or Kunzum pass and start trek from Batal onwards to Chandertaal first. The Chandrataal is a jewel of a lake, surrounded by the Glaciers and High Summits; this blue water Lake is also known as The Lake of the Moon. Further through the massive mountains cape we trek to Baralacha La - 4,800 Mts. high motor able Pass between Leh Manali Highway. This Pass creates the boundary between the Middle Himalayas and the Great Himalayas.
